I never saw Jim Standen play, in fact the only players I have seen in that side are Hurst Moore and Peters

There was apparently a bomb scare as well.

I don't know if you are aware, but Jim Standen saved a penalty that day too. His cricketing prowess came in handy it appears.

Ron, if this site is any indication the West Ham way is as far from "high hopes" as you can get.

The "West Ham way" is to go into this game with high hopes, and to come away with a 4-0 drubbing.

Found something interesting - The last time we beat Liverpool at Anfield.

I quote:

"West Ham always had six men in their own goalmouth, three men hovering around the middle, one man, centre forward Johnny Byrne, acting as link-man, and tall Geoff Hurst hovering around the centre circle waiting for the quick clearance."
...
In 33 minutes West Ham got another goal fashioned as only these Londoners can. Standen made a long clearance to Ron Boyce who without stopping the ball just hooked it forward and the ever-alert Geoff Hurst swept around the flat-footed Ron Yeats to hook it into the net."

West Ham way?

So you weren't referring to yourself as a "Tin foil hatted bellend", then?

Thanks for clearing that up.

By the way, Oxford may be travelling but he is NOWHERE near ready for the first team. I've seen him struggling for the Development side twice,he's too young for them as well. We must let him develop at his own pace and not keep on comparing him with RIO. In my opinion, he is no Rio. Sorry to piss on everybody's chips about the young lad.

I see three of the 1963 heroes are no longer with us.

The remaining eight will probably be 6 feet under before their feat is repeated.

If someone gets injured he'll have to play him.

I doubt Big Sam would risk a rookie at Anfield.
